Why the Nigerian government would rather put a non-current OS on the laptops that their students will receive is beyond me. Students will learn a lot more on computers that allow them to learn instead of charge them later for upgrades. Not to mention that it’s not going to run as well as Linux…
Oh well. Soon some of the Linux success stories will actually show some evidence of the right choice being made.

Unfair Microsoft?…
Is this unfair? No! Mandriva wanted to make a deal, so did Microsoft. And Nigeria just wanted to make a good deal, also. i think today Linux is often used to pressure Microsoft to reduce prices or give more. To offer more or to make additional deals is…

I would agree if Nigeria just went and signed a deal with Microsoft. That’s not the way it happened. Nigeria signed a deal with Mandriva, and they have to follow it. They’ve just said now that they will still buy the laptops with Mandriva and then install XP over them after. Whatever Microsoft did to make that happen is bullshit, plain and simple.
Bottom line is it hurts the kids they are trying to help.
